The benefits of running for health and wellbeing

By August 23, 2019News Articles

It was a great morning for a run, all be it a little cool.

My training is on track, with plenty of km’s completed over the past week, 160 kms for the month so far.

With only 8 weeks to the actual marathon, it’s great to have another PWS Advisory Group team member join me. Damien Jewell from the Finance team (Credit Advisor) has signed up to do his first ½ marathon and is already in full training, supporting the PWS Advisory vision of ‘Improving your Wellbeing’.

I’m reading a very interesting book at the moment, ‘Running is my Therapy’, by Scott Douglas. The theme of the book is around the positive effect running has on depression, anxiety, clear thinking and moods.

The PWS Advisory team can relate to the Mood aspect. Several of my team frequently ask me if I’ve been for my run. In other words, they can tell from my mood if I have run or not. I certainly appreciate that my mood is more positive, and stress is managed better on the days that I run.

A big week of training ahead, with the target of 230km for the month of August.

Reminder to all, keep active and look after yourself.
